• Baja 500 off Road Race
Famous international off-road competition held in early June, Daring drivers from all around California traverse a 500 mile course through Baja’s often forbidding mountain valley, forest and desert landscape. Enjoy the huge party in Ensenada at the race’s start point.
• Tecate-Ensenada Relay Race & Fun Bicycle Ride
Participants depart from Tecate’s town square and travel Scenic Highway 3 to the finish line at Parque Revolución downtown Ensenada. This family ride is an excellent opportunity to get to know the beautiful Tecate.
• Rosarito Ensenada Fun Bicycle Ride
50 mile ride on the free road with thousands of participants each year. Average time is 4.5 hours but cyclists have been known to arrive in Ensenada as early as 1.00 pm, making less than two hours. What would you time be?
• Beaches
Rosarito and Ensenada has sandy beaches and calm, inviting waters, perfect for swimming, surfing, snorkeling, diving, boogie boarding, parasailing and waterskiing and other water-related activities. A number of tide pools offer an opportunity for the kids to splash around, play and explore nature´s sea wonders.
• San Archangel de la Frontera Mission
Preserved ruins of the Dominican Mission founded in 1787, but the building of the mission itself did not begin until 1788. Established in order to create a better junction between old and new California
• Valle de Guadalupe
The first colonies on this regions were Kiliwa and Kumai cultures, followed by missionaries and Mexican who opened the route to the arrival of immigrants from Russia, Chine, Europe and the rest of Mexico. A nice place to see picturesque streets, admire beautiful buildings and to enjoy a well deserved break among the dozens of wineries.
• Constitucion 1857 National Park
A national park in the plateau country of Sierra de Juarez. The highlights is Laguna Hanson, a lake surrounded by pine forest, unusual rock formations and excellent primitive campsites on its western shore.
• Santo Tomas Mission
The mission of “Santo Tomas de Aquino” was founded in 1791, and is an internationally-known place for its vineyards and the “Bocana de Santo Tomas” beach. This is a perfect place for outdoor activities.
• Sierra de San Pedro Martir National Park
A magnificent region of rocky peaks, forests of pine and fir, freshwater streams and mountain meadows. The Mexican government built a modern astronomical observatory on a rounded summit 9,000 feet in elevation, across from the Picacho del Diablo, highest point on the entire peninsula, where you can overlook on one side the Pacific Ocean and on the other the Golfo de California or Mar de Cortez.
• Riviera del Pacifico
Built in the 1920’s this was a glamorous casino, hotel, restaurant and bar visited by Hollywood stars and wealthy Americans and Mexicans. When Mexico outlawed gambling, it was transformed into the social, civic and cultural center of Ensenada. Pristine grounds and beautiful manicured gardens surround the white-washes Spanish mission-style structure.
• La Bufadora (The Blowhole)
A natural cave formed by marine erosion throws a gush of water that can shoot upwards as high as 80 feet above sea level when the waves come into it, producing the sound associated to its name. An amazing natural blowhole that spews seawater and foam high into the air.
• Gray whale watching
The gray whale is the most common species seen in near the coast of Baja. Other whales are present, but tend to seek deeper waters, while the gray swim in shallow water seeking Baja’s many lagoons for calving. The Baja California coast is teaming with whales during the calving season form late November to late March. The greatest numbers con be seen in February.
• The Vineyards
The wine-growing region of Baja California lies within the valleys of San Vicente, Santo Tomas and Guadalupe, all located in the municipality of Ensenada, on the pacific coast. Today more than 90% Mexico’s table wines are produced here.
• Santo Tomas Winery
